Why I refused to buy the Mickey waffle iron.

Doesn’t it look so cute? My kids would eat these everyday if I had the Mickey waffle iron. And trust me, at Disney World they sold them. I think they were $39.99, which in the grand scheme of Disney is not an awful lot. Remember, is said in the grand scheme of Disney……..not the real world.
I was tempted to purchase it. That night at the hotel my better half spoke highly of the nice Belgium waffles the kids would eat if I bought it. Still I wasn’t moved to do so. Because of the cost? Certainly would be a darn good reason. Because of the necessity of it? Again, a really good reason for it. If not those very good reasons of why not to buy……..then what was it?
It was this…

Because at my house Tigger does not sneak up on unsuspecting 2 year old’s at the dining table. Nor do we have nose rubbing sessions with Pooh Bear either while your family looks on.

And that is what goes best with Mickey shaped waffles……..the magic. I don’t want to ruin the magic, the innocence, the wonder of it by watering it down with trying to recreate that everyday. Sure it is cheaper to make them at home with my $39.99 waffle maker than to drive 3 hours in my diesel SUV. But isn’t that what makes it special? The fact that the magical wonderful special waffles only come from Disney. And we get that special treat every great once and awhile. If you give kids every thing every day, what is to look forward to? Not much if you ask me. It is a good thing for children to have to wait for something special. It is a good thing not to try to give in to every whim just because we have the means to do so. And it is perfectly ok to every once and awhile to cut loose and let your children be children.

And let them attempt to honk Eeyore’s nose. Do you blame him? He is pretty darn cute. And look at those smiles…….you can not get those from a $39.99 waffle maker, not even close.
God Bless,
Michele

There is not a cent of $ that can buy happiness…….it’s from the heart.
Exactly Anita. And trying to recreate a special memory at home makes that memory…..not so special. There will not many times in the kids life where they ate with Pooh & Friends, why not keep it magical, wonderful and special?
God Bless,
Michele
